LaTonya Washington has wealth of knowledge in the game of volleyball; she brings a competitive and nurturing spirit to her coaching style.
A native of Bangor, Michigan, LaTonya was a 3-sport standout at Bangor High School. She excelled in basketball (all district, all region and all stater), volleyball (all district, all region and all stater) and softball (all district, all region, and all stater). LaTonya holds the record of most strikeouts in a season and career for the state of Michigan. She topped that off her senior year with the national career strikeout record. Through these experiences, she has learned and developed a winning attitude and understanding of how to turn up the heat to excel in a competitive atmosphere.
LaTonya’s other accomplishments came in club volleyball where she was selected to the all tournament team at junior national tournament for three years playing for the Dunes Club out of Michigan City, Indiana. She finished her volleyball career at the University of Texas.
LaTonya has been coaching the game and skills of volleyball for 15 years. LaTonya not only focuses on skills but teaching the knowledge of the game. LaTonya is excited to learn the game more as it keeps changing, but also being able to pass it along to other athletes, coaches and players alike.
